THE ANCIENT FAITH...
The faith of the Free Catholic Church is the historic and ancient faith as taught by the first Apostles of Jesus Christ, handed down to us today through bishops, successors to the Apostles, in an unbroken line of succession.
Following the Scriptural account of the early Christian Church, the Free Catholic Church continues "the teaching of the Apostles, the breaking of the bread and the prayers" (Acts 2:42).
The Free Catholic Church adheres to the ancient guidance of the early statements of the Christian Faith contained in the Apostles and Nicene Creeds and accepts them as the basic form and content of our faith.
...FOR THE MODERN LIFE
Although the Truth, perfectly expressed in the life of Jesus Christ (John 14:6) never changes, times and conditions do change. The world in which we live today is radically different than First Century Palestine. Culture, society and the demands of the modern life challenge us to find fresh and creative ways in which to live the unchanging message of Christ.
The Free Catholic Church understands the essence of the Gospel message is the love of God (John 3:16), perfectly defined and brought to reality by Jesus Christ. This Gospel message calls each of us to follow the example of Jesus by making God a reality in our modern life. Because "God is love" (1 John 4:8), we make God real in our lives and the lives of others when we love (Matthew 22:37-40).
Throughout the history of the Church, some have allowed opinions and matters of personal conscience to divide the unity of the Church. People of different opinions, cultures and backgrounds have been denied the Sacraments of the Church and even turned away from the Christian community. The Free Catholic Church views these divisive and arrogant attitudes as opposite to the entire Gospel message of Jesus Christ. In the Free Catholic Church, everyone is welcome.
